End of work at the Combes waste disposal site: modernized equipment for La Léchère

The modernization work on the Combes waste disposal site, located in Petit Cœur (commune of La Léchère, in Savoie), was completed in May 2025. Led by the Community of communes of the Aigueblanche Valleys (CCVA), this project aimed to bring the site into compliance with the latest safety, sorting and public service standards.

The inauguration brought together local elected officials, agents, businesses and partners, highlighting the importance of this facility for the region.

An essential waste disposal site serving the valley

Open to the public since October 2001, the Combes recycling center has become, over time, a central point of waste management for the inhabitants of the valley.

In response to increasing deposits and environmental requirements, the CCVA launched a two-phase renovation program. Work began in 2022 and was completed in 2024.

A two-phase project

La first phase, carried out from 2022, focused on securing the platforms. The teams installed guardrails, a rubble hopper, and devices to facilitate the delivery of rubble. These improvements aim to protect both users and staff.

La second stage, in 2024, made it possible to transform the organization of the site. Several actions were carried out:

  • enlargement of the entrance for heavy goods vehicles,

  • installation of new skips and containers,

  • improvement of traffic flows,

  • creation of a platform for green waste,

  • installation of a day/night video surveillance system,

  • renewal of all signage.

Shared funding and a sustainable vision

The total cost of the work amounts to 347 704 € HTThe CCVA financed 74% of the project, and the State provided the remainder via the Rural Territories Equipment Endowment (DETR), up to 26%.

This project is part of a broader strategy of ecological transition on a territorial scale. It allows residents to benefit from a modern infrastructure, in line with expectations in terms of sorting, security and waste recovery.

An ambition turned towards the future

For André Pointet, president of the CCVA, this work illustrates a clear ambition: to propose a sustainable public service, both efficient and environmentally friendly.

The Combes recycling center thus becomes an example of useful and coherent development, serving residents and the planet.
