ARES plant shredder

ARES plant shredder for waste disposal sites, patented equipment designed and manufactured in France by AME, for the safe and efficient shredding of green waste.

The ARES wood chipper, designed and manufactured in France by AME, directly meets the needs of waste disposal site managers. Green waste accounts for nearly 50% of the input into treatment plants in France; therefore, it is crucial to have a machine capable of reducing its volume. ARES thus reduces transport costs while recovering the value of the shredded material.

Two installation configurations

ARES can be installed in two configurations to adapt to the organization of the site:

  • Docked version : a metal frame places the crusher above the recovery bin. From then on, the shredded material falls directly into the bin.

  • Flat version : the crusher remains at the same level as the skip, which circulates under the device to receive the product.

In each configuration, an ergonomic loading bucket accommodates green waste (branches, foliage, pruning residues). In addition, a barrier and a safety door protect staff and users.

Composition and operation of the rotor

At the heart of the ARES shredder, a rotor rotates at 1,500 rpm and carries 28 oscillating hammers with carbide-tipped steel tips that crush the plants. This mechanism achieves an output of 240 m³/h, depending on the nature of the material, and can process diameters up to 15 cm. In addition, an outlet casing directs the shredded material without dangerous fragments, thus ensuring everyone's safety.

To facilitate feeding, a 450 kg feed roller, driven by a hydraulic motor, continuously pushes the branches towards the rotor. Thanks to this system, the machine accepts a regular flow without the risk of jamming.

Power supply and technical specifications

ARES operates on a three-phase 400 V network. It incorporates an 11 kW (21 A) hydraulic power unit and a 110 kW (195 A IN at start-up) main motor. As a result, it generates sufficient power to operate both the rotor and the feed roller.

In addition, the machine limits its noise level to 85 dB, which reduces disturbances for users and the neighborhood. Finally, its 4,5 m³ hopper temporarily stores waste before crushing, while the 4 m³ bucket is used for the loading phase or acts as a buffer zone when the bin is full.

Dimensions and customization options

The dimensions of ARES adapt to the constraints of waste disposal sites:

  • Overall length: 7,25 m

  • Beam: 2,26 m

  • Height: this varies depending on whether the docked or flat version is used

  • Passage under the roller: from 150 to 400 mm, to make handling plants safer

Additionally, AME offers several options to enhance the grinder's versatility:

  1. Hydraulic winch : it facilitates longitudinal loading of the skip.

  2. Universal roller tracks (6 or 7 m) : for the flat version, these rails allow the dumpster to be positioned easily.

  3. Extraction conveyor : it dumps the shredded material directly into a bin without manual intervention.

  4. Rolling bin gripping system (1,100 L) : it creates a storage buffer when the dumpster is out of service.

  5. Towing winch : it helps to move the skip or the receiving table according to the needs of the site.

Main advantages of the ARES crusher

First, the loading bucket remains low to the ground, eliminating laborious handling. Second, ARES reduces volumes by up to five times, reducing transport costs and optimizing rotation frequency. In addition, the machine produces shredded material that can be used for composting or mulching.

Additionally, the protective casing and anti-splash rubber flap enhance safety by preventing any splintering. Furthermore, the shredder does not require light curtains that frequently stop competing machines, ensuring a consistently clean station. Finally, the visual pre-inspection before shredding allows any unwanted elements to be immediately removed, protecting the machine and operators.

Simplified maintenance and reliability

ARES incorporates a micro-hydraulic power unit protected by a cover, which extends its lifespan. The engines and sensitive components remain accessible via a maintenance walkway on the dockside version. What's more, the hydraulic turret and electrical cabinet benefit from effective protection against bad weather. As a result, the anti-jamming control system maintains continuous operation without requiring constant intervention.
