How does an electric trash compactor work?

An electric waste compactor is industrial equipment designed to reduce the volume and facilitate the disposal of waste by using mechanical force to compress solid materials.

The waste is first introduced into the compactor's hopper, which can be of various shapes and sizes depending on the category and quantity of waste to be compacted. In the compaction chamber, a hydraulic pressure system pushes a compaction plate against a solid surface.

It's the compactor's electric motor that generates the pressure needed to drive the compaction plate.

How to choose the right waste compactor?

It's essential to carefully assess your waste management needs in order to choose the right compaction solution. There are several criteria to consider:

  • The type of waste: household waste, industrial waste, organic waste or recyclable waste.
  • The volume of waste so that your monobloc or fixed-station compactor can be efficient without being oversized. Some compactors can handle several tons of waste a day.
  • The size and configuration of the space available for the compactor.
  • Frequency of compactor emptying.
  • The budget, which must include the initial purchase cost of the waste compactor and running costs: electricity consumption, maintenance and any repairs. Our company Gillard SAS offers different types of waste compactor to meet each of the needs formulated by our customers. What's the difference between a monoblock compactor and a stationary compactor?

Depending on your waste processing requirements, you'll need a different design and installation for your waste compaction solution.

The monobloc waste compactor integrates the waste storage receptacle into a single unit. This industrial equipment has the advantage of being easily moved from one site to another. This type of waste compactor is ideal for facilities producing moderate volumes of waste, such as shopping centers, healthcare establishments or hotels.

In the configuration of a stationary waste compactor, the compaction station is separated from the storage container. The compactor remains stationary, while the container can be detached and transported for emptying.

Larger and more powerful than mobile monobloc waste compactors, stationary compactors meet the more demanding needs of high-volume waste-generating facilities such as industrial plants or waste treatment and recovery centers.

This equipment makes it possible to process larger quantities of materials, household refuse or various other types of waste, without having to move the entire plant - just the container to be filled and emptied.
